Airways Cleaning and Fireproofing Co. was incorporated in the State of Florida in September, 1975 by Mr. Tim Greene.
Mr. Greene has completed degree programs in Business Administration & Economics, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Greene believed that if there was a time to go out on your own it was when you had youth and no other responsibilities.
After a year of working with the staff of Airways in Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Greene moved to South Florida and began selling during the day and cleaning exhaust systems at night. Airways experienced a slow but steady growth during the 1980' s and 1990' s. They began to concentrate their efforts primarily in the large institutional market such as hotels, hospitals and larger restaurants where Engineers were aware of the necessity to clean the unseen areas in the ceiling spaces to minimize the hazards of fire. The marketplace had many competitors willing to clean those areas that were visible from the kitchen floor, while listing the anything above the ceiling as "inaccessible". Airways maintained its commitment to clean the entire exhaust system and insisted upon the installation of access doors for proper cleaning.
In the late 1980' s Mr. Greene joined forces with other quality minded members of the industry to form the International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Associations. A organization devoted to the proper standards and practices to ensure the customer receive the best work possible. Mr. Greene served on the IKECA Board of Directors for several years and recently served as President of the organization from 1999 to 2001.
In 2000 Airways welcomed the addition of Joseph Jacobs to its staff. Mr. Jacobs, being trained in the New York City metropolitan area by IKECA member companies, has brought over 20 years of knowledge and experience to the company. New York for many years has been at the forefront of the industry understanding the dangers posed by fire when ductwork contains flammable grease accumulations running through high density buildings. Mr. Jacobs had served as both General Manager and Director of Operations for some very highly respected companies and was instrumental in their unprecedented growth. Mr. Jacobs has continued this while overseeing the expansion of Airways Cleaning into new markets and products as well as sharing his knowledge and experience with the Fire Prevention community of South Florida.
Airways Cleaning currently employees over 16 dedicated staff members and runs six full time crews operating in the South Florida tri-county area. In addition to exhaust systems cleaning Airways also specializes in cleaning kitchen line equipment, as well as the installation of rooftop grease containment systems. Airways is also a Certified Service agency for Gaylord and Avtec water wash exhaust systems. Airways also specializes in the cleaning of laundry dryer lint exhaust systems.
